The Cultivation of Rice

Ogata Village started as a model farming village for mechanized agriculture.
The use of Ogata agricultural machinery made it possible for a small number of people to farm.
Tractors and combine harvesters are typical machines.
Harvested rice is transported to a country elevator (grain elevator) for drying and storage.
This modern rice production system has spread widely throughout the country.

Seedling production

In April, rice seeds are sown and seedlings are made.

Tillage

The soil is dug up with a tractor and fertilizer is sown.

Plowing

Water is added from the irrigation canal, and the area is then plowed.

Rice planting

Grown seedlings are planted in the paddy field with a rice-planting machine.

Paddy field management

Adjust water and fertilizer according to climate, water temperature, and rice growth, and weed control.

Rice harvesting

Rice is harvested by combine harvesters and the unhulled rice is transported by truck.

Drying and Storage

Paddy is dried in a country elevator (grain elevator) and stored at low temperature.
