A model of rice farming

14.Plowing

Fertilizer is spread and the soil is tilled.
The amount and type of fertilizer varies depending on the variety of rice and the condition of the soil.

15.Planting

The grown seedlings are planted in the rice paddies.
In Ogata Village, a wide rice planting machine with 8 to 10 rows is usually used.
In the corners of the fields where the machine cannot plant, the rice is planted by hand.

16.Harvesting

The rice is stored inside the combine harvester and the straw is removed.
When the combine is full, the rice is transferred to trucks for transport to the country elevator (facilities for sorting, drying and storing of grain) or to the farmer’s own workshop.

17.Harvesting

The large yellow combine harvester is used to harvest wheat.
It was introduced for harvesting rice at the beginning of the farm, but is now used for harvesting wheat.

18.Drying and Storing

Rice transported to the country elevator (grain elevator) is dried and stored in cylindrical silos.
Rice is stored in the form of husks, so it can maintain its freshness until it is shipped.

19.Hulling and Polishing

Rice mills can process the rice into white rice just before shipping.
