Departure from the Settlement Training Center

Agriculture in Ogata Village introduced innovative techniques that had never been tried before.
These included the use of large machinery such as tractors and combines, helicopter-assisted direct seeding, and group farming, which was a new concept at the t ime.
At the Settlement Training Center, trainees learned these new agricultural technologies and management practices.
After completing a year of training, they moved on to start their own farms.

Since the training center began operating in 1968 , rice planting shifted from traditional transplanting to the use of direct-seeding rice planters.
More advanced, high-performance small machinery was also introduced.
The idea of group farming was reassessed, and individual farms began focusing on more efficient, independent operations.

While farming practices have evolved over time, the pioneering spirit cultivated at the Settlement Training Center has been passed down from parents to children.
This spirit continues to thrive and is reflected in the diverse agric ultural practices of today.
