Korenori FUTADA

Korenori Futada born as Ryokichi Kudo in 1895 in Takamatsu Village, Yamagata Prefecture (now part of Sagae City).
In 1922, he entered the Futada family and adopted the name Korenori Futada.
He inherited the family’s long-standing commitment to land development and worked diligently on the reclamation of unused land and the construction of irrigation canals.
From 1927, he served as the mayor of Tennou Village, a member of the Akita Prefectural Assembly, a member of the House of Representatives, and the mayor of Tennou Town.
Throughout this period, he consistently pursued the prevention of water damage along the Hachirogata coastline and the realization of land reclamation.
In 1953, he established the Hachirogata Utilization Development Promotion Alliance and, as its chairman, led the coastal fishermen, working alongside Akita Prefectural Governor Yujiro Obata from 1955 to promote the project, significantly contributing to the success of the land reclamation efforts.
Korenori Futada passed away in 1979.
