Masaaki WADA

Masaaki Wada was born in 1916 in Tokyo (registered domicile: Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture).
After working in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Agricultural Land Bureau and other departments, he became the chairman of the Hachirogata New Rural Community Construction Corporation in 1968, serving in this role for ten years.
During this time, he undertook an unprecedented national project to create a new rural community on reclaimed land in a soft lakebed area.
Notably, he overcame the risk of suspension of settlement due to rice production adjustment measures implemented in 1970 and worked tirelessly as a sympathetic supporter of the settlers.
He contributed significantly to expanding farming areas, establishing large-scale, high-productivity agriculture, and strengthening local government infrastructure.
Masaaki Wada passed away in 1992.
