Pieter Philippus Jansen
Pieter Phillipus Jansen born in 1902 in Dordrecht, Netherlands.
After serving as a senior technical engineer at the Ministry of Water Management in Japan, he became a professor in the Department of Hydraulic Engineering at Delft University of Technology.
He also served as a leader of the Dutch Delta Plan and was an international consultant for NEDECO (Netherlands Engineering Consultants) and the World Bank.
Particularly concerning Hachirogata, in 1954, he visited the site and presented a report to the Japanese government titled “Observations on Japanese Land Reclamation,” in which he outlined the general plan and advantages of the reclamation project.
Through several visits to Japan, he provided guidance that significantly contributed to the progress of the project.
His contributions to the Hachirogata reclamation and other international water management projects were highly significant.
Pieter Phillipus Jansen passed away in 1982.
